Jiashan Market

The City Seen Overview — Jiashan Market

Situated along an alley located between Jiashan Lu and South Shaanxi, Jiashan Market was originally the site of a textile factory in the 1980s. Saved from demolition, the site was repurposed from the existing structures to house the offices and workspaces of craft artists and creative entrepreneurs. Founded on a philosophy of sustainable building practices, many of the buildings are now host to rooftop community gardens upon which are grown a variety of different vegetables and herbs.

As a meeting ground for artisanal boutique crafts and clothing artists, as well as beverage and food vendors, Jiashan Market’s central plaza comes alive on the Saturday and Sunday of every second week, with vendors selling their wares directly to the public. Along with its vendor stalls, Jiashan Market is also host to a number of cozy restaurants and bars that serve patrons daily. Today, we’re hopefully going to be speaking to some of the market’s vendors as we check out all this beloved neighborhood market has to offer. Come on, follow me.
